Author of four non-fiction children's books including Rain Tonight: A Story of Hurricane Hazel which was nominated for three reader's choice awards.
Steve's latest release To Stand and Fight Together which is a Black History non-fiction book published by the Dundurn Group.

In 1980, won the top Periodical Distributors Authors' Award for Humour for a magazine that appeared in Harrowsmith Magazine. The article was called "Tastes Like Chicken" and featured five gourmet recipes for groundhog.

Have worked variously as a dishwasher, farm hand, movie extra, militia soldier, Yukon gold prospector, goose rancher, armoured truck guard, youth outreach worker, bar bouncer, student minister, supply teacher, political assistant to a provincial member of parliament, stay-at-home-dad, food bank truck driver, children's author and resort sous-chef. I have earned a Master of Divinity degree, two black belts and a chef's certificate. It ain't over yet.
